The way the world moves
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” – Lao Tzu
We often want to find the solution, become the hero who will solve the problem, make the change, create the platform, write the book, speak the lecture, teach the course…We want to be the one who does the thing that makes the change. We want to know the answer and the solution so that we can make the change and watch the important problem be no more. We want to come up with the way to get to the destination before we’ve even begun walking.
I was sitting in the front seat of my van. I saw the way the world moves, in my body I felt the way the world moves. I opened my heart to receiving the wisdom that lives within us all. And I said that we will never be the same. That we are all the same yet we will never be the same. What a journey. A trip. To know and not know. To be one and yet tiny fragments of totally different pieces to the enormity yet simplicity of our oneness. And so I remembered that on planet earth we are all living in a way that is our own. Yet our egos are marching one behind the other, thinking we know that we are right or we are wrong and we know and we don’t know and searching for the answers, assuming the productivity of our life will entail a solution. All of us, desiring a solution, wanting the answer, wanting to make the world “a better place”.
And what is simple yet become tragically overcomplicated is the remembrance that the world becomes “a better place” by stepping outside of the world that we think we know and stepping inside to the place where it all begins and ends and is eternal.
So in our hearts we know the truth. And when we listen to the pings and the pangs that lead us to do the things that don’t maybe make sense yet lead us to exactly where we are meant to be, that allow us to witness the magic. And so our ego becomes connected to the magic, clinging for the recipe to make it happen again. Yet that is where we lose contact with the essence of intuitive living, the essence of magic falls away when we get overly connected, connected at all, to the desire to make the magic happen again.
We do not make the magic happen. We are the magic. In us. When we look outside of us, when we try to make it something magical we are not the magic anymore. We have lost sight of the internal-ness that is all of us as one yet simply our own little essence that is actually so big and profound, yet the ego just wants it to be one or the other. But our love is the core of the magic. And our light is the core of the magic. But here we go as humans beeping and bopping around trying to name it all. The “magic”. The “intuition”. We have names for it all. And what an exciting thing it would be as a human to know the recipe and share it with others. What a gift we tell ourselves it would be to be a knower of the way, a creator and a sharer of the ways in which we align with ourselves to make the world a “better place”. But as the journey of a thousand steps must begin with one single foot step, our journey to make the world “a better place” is yes an illusion, and also as a human we must take that illusion internally so that our own living of life as a soul in a human body, they say, is the place we find home and peace, and without attachment to knowing how we become the peace for all, and so individually our peace becomes the peace of the world, one “person” at a time, one “step at a time”.
