i began writing my first memoir in 2018.
there’s a table at the whole foods in sedona, arizona where i sat almost everyday and read and edited this book. i was living in my van at the time, and frequented this whole foods for the superb wifi, hot bar, water-fountain and bathroom.
it was at that table i decided not to publish the book.
why?
it’s not always easy or logical to describe feelings of knowing, but i can tell you that i wrote on the cover of the printed manuscript in big bold letters: “TOO MUCH EGO”
the books that i have published have come from my heart. they are direct channellings of an energetic frequency that lives in a state of love and universal connection.
i’m not here to tell anyone what to do. i learned that pretty clearly when i was 21. perhaps a story for another day.
i’m also not here to showcase my life to the world in a way that feels like anything other than intentional. to the best of my ability. writing is art. it’s also storytelling. it’s also really powerful medicine.
and sometimes the medicine of a written book is a dose that only the writer themself needs.
so, after i wrote that memoir, i read and re-read it, until it became super clear to me that it was not meant to be published. it was written for me!
i wrote that book for my own healing. my own expansion.
sometimes, as authors and writers, we write books that we think at first will serve the world, but then we learn that the were meant only for us, a gift to expand and learn and heal and forgive.
this is beautiful and really important!!!!
ps. if they are serving us they are also serving the world!
if you find yourself in this place, this doesn’t mean you won’t write a book for others to read. it means this one was for you. it’s that simple.
i work with clients who write books that are healing for themselves. i also work with people who are writing books for the collective. both are equally as important. and you don’t always know who your books is meant for at the beginning.
